But in times of hybrid cacao and cross-breedings that have invaded the country, pure Arriba Nacional is difficult to find. Although it is a group rather than a variety, the search for the supposed forefather of Arriba Nacional is still going on. The Ecuadorian fine flavour cacao has very different and complex aroma profiles, from flowery over fruity to nutty notes.
